VAT is not only important for UNISA CTA Test 1 but you can expect to see it appearing in questions, tests and exams throughout the year. It is also a popular topic for SAICA’s ITC and APC exams.

When studying the VAT Act, use the VAT index as well as the SAICA examinable pronouncements to identify important sections and to make sure you cover them all. Group the sections you study according to its place in the VAT Act index. Using the VAT Act effectively will improve your mastery of this topic.

Always remember to consider the following for each transaction:

• Definition
• Timing rules (mostly s9)
• Value rules (mostly s10)
• Any other special rule
