Getting to know Bianca Nel CA (SA)
From 2017 CA Campus welcomes Bianca Nel CA (SA) to the CA Campus team as financial accounting lecturer. You are going to spend the better part of a year listening to her (and your other CTA lecturers).
We asked our lecturers a few questions.
Here is what our Financial Accounting CTA lecturer, Bianca Nel CA (SA), had to say:
Why did you choose lecturing as your career?
I had to study hard to get to where I am today and I have not always been an A-student. During my time as a student there were lecturers who went the extra mile for me, if it was not for them I would not be a CA today. My definition of leaving a legacy is to be that person for someone else.
I love helping people. If you want to do something good you can do it yourself, but to achieve something great you need to help someone else achieve their goals.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Why have you chosen the subject you are lecturing?
I think accounting chose me from my early days. Accounting was the subject I spent most of my time on at university, at the back of my mind thinking that one day I will become an Accounting Lecturer.
Almost magically every opportunity that came my way related to lecturing financial accounting. The days (and nights) I spent at varsity trying to “make it easier” with summaries, rhymes, pictures etc. came in handy during my time as a lecturer at Unisa.
Accounting is the universal language for all businesses worldwide, it’s also the core competency of any CA. As a result, lecturing accounting is a very serious “job” for me.
Why did you choose CA Campus?
I had just given birth to the most amazing little girl in 2015 when CA Campus first approached me to join their team. Being a first-time mom is very rewarding and at the same time a little overwhelming. At the end of 2016 it was time for me to follow my dreams and join the CA Campus team.
The CA Campus team members are experienced professionals who have made enormous sacrifices to follow their dreams and build CA Campus to what it is today. I have known the other members of the CA Campus team from 2012 and I know it is not only a business to them. Helping students is their heart and souls. I share their passion and I am honoured to be part of this team.
What other interests/hobbies do you have?
Apart from spending time with my family, I love to attend boot camp. I believe in keeping fit both physically and mentally. I enjoy most outdoor activities as well as reading when I have time.
What advice would you give to an aspiring CA (SA)?
This may sound trivial, but before you start your academic year, establish what study method works for you. What works best for you to understand and remember important concepts? Is it colours, pictures, rhymes? Find out what works and what does not, by doing this you won’t waste time on methods that don’t fit your style.
Becoming a CA is a mind game. There may be times when you feel like quitting. Take a break and then focus again. If becoming a CA is your dream, work for it! You might lose out on some partying time, but it is so worth it!
Once you become a CA, remember your true character and remain humble.
Why in your opinion should students choose CA Campus?
We understand what you are going through. We’ve been there. We’re an experienced team with a passion for what we do.
We understand the time pressures of modern life and at CA Campus we keep pace with the times and technology. You can view a lecture anytime anywhere, pause it and even rewind it to ensure you grasp important concepts.
At CA Campus our greatest reward is seeing you reach your academic goals.

I want to preface this testimony by saying that I was so impressed with the very high level and knowledgeable lessons. I am Kagiso Mphela, an Internal Auditing graduate at UNISA, currently studying Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Auditing. I met Ms Bianca Nel from the FAC3702 class during my studies in 2014. She as the Financial Accounting at UNISA, by then, was assigned to assist a group of students including myself as we remained with a module or two to complete our studies. I personally failed the module few times but with her methods, techniques, patience and passion for teaching; I ended up passing the “monster module” as it was to me.
I felt I had to let you know. Thanks
